Fujifilm released the “FinePix F100fd” digital camera as a commemorative model to celebrate the 10th anniversary since the initial release of the FinePix series. The new digital camera is designed with a dramatically wider dynamic range for seamless gradients between the brightest and darkest areas and is equipped with a wide-angle 28mm ~ 140mm Fujinon 5x optical zoom lens and “Face Detection 3.0″, an enhanced face detection function.
The “Face Detection 3.0″ function loaded in the new FinePix F100fd provides the world’s fastest face detection speed of 0.036 seconds. In addition, the conventional face detection range was further expanded to enable face detection over the entire 360° range including faces that are upside down.
The camera displays the face determined to be the main subject in a green frame and focuses on that face. The brightness (exposure) is adjusted and optimized for all the faces in the photo including the faces displayed in white frames, and white balance is automatically adjusted based on the skin color of the detected faces. Face Detection 3.0 is also useful when taking group photos because it can simultaneously detect up to 10 faces. (Face Detection Demonstration Images).

Why is this …
Why is this talking so much about face detection, instead of answering why the camera doesn’t have the simple features like manual focus, Av, Tv and M, RAW etc.

Re:
F200EXR
vs.
F100FD
Look at ImagingResource – their Prime laboratory shot ( called ‘Still Life’ ) – and compare the two.
To my eyes, the F100FD beats the newer F200EXR quite clearly.
The twice as expensive F200EXR has small, but clearly visible, artifacts at the edges of evenly coloured surfaces (due to compression or sharpening I guess).
Noise is about the same ( the new EXR sensor apparently not gaining any obvious advantage over the “old” F100FD ).
What do you think ?

Good camera. Fuji …
Good camera. Fuji has just released the firm wear to address the pink banding problem. Also I understand that it can not live with the fine pix f30/31 in low light of 400iso or bellow. Sad as this fuji model is 2years old!!
