New speed cameras and Motorcycles?

March 22nd, 2010 | by admin |

Is it true that the new speed cameras, that have 2 detectors about 100m apart, take a picture of the front of your car if you speed?
if so is it true that motorcycles dont have a front registration plate- so they canot catch you?!?!

why don’t you try it first :)

I even heard there is this stuff out that glares your license plate on the camera.Something like a wax spray. So when they snap the picture all they get is a light reflection. Then again I dont know how legal it is to put that on your plates. If they can take a picture of your license plate at all, I’m sure they can catch you.

Only one picture and the 2 speeds timed on wet film

try it and weep when the bill comes through

you assume the photos are being taken front and back that is not always the case – photos can be digitally enhanced to see you smoking, eating, drinking and using a mobile so you could soon have multiple charges if driving a car

No front number plate and half an inch of crud over the rear works well, dont forget to dirty it up again if it rains

Mmmm……no. Some of them take a picture in both directions. They’ve literally got you coming and going.

Not sure, but the stuff you spray on your plates sometimes doesn’t work. At least some of the old stuff doesn’t because there was a show about it on tv. There might be new stuff that works though!

The fact you ask this question would indicate you dont ride.

Currently in most countries cameras can only take pictures from the front as they are radar triggered, this is a major issues as governments are losing shiit loads of revenue from motorcyclists that " continually flout the law in an irrisponsible manner" which means we cant catch the speeding motorcycles.

Answer, electric tags like they use on tollbooths for all motorcycles or front plates or adhesive registration labels.

These are all being tried to varying degrees of success around the world.

What ever happens will be another nail in the coffin of riders rights and freedoms,

riders are usually treated like second class citizens and this sort of buoracratic manachism only proves it.

OK check it, the cameras work as to flash when you drive by and take a picture of your plate as you fly by. Well, the one thing that is true, if you put the spray on your plate it will not give a clear picture from the camera, because of the flash. But if the camera does not have a flash, and just takes a picture…yep the spray does not work.

The only way around it on a bike, is to get the plate on your left side of the rear wheel. Get a tag relocator and see if they can get a pic of you speeding by with the plate on the left side.

Oh they can catch you, they can get a clue from the pic on what the bike looks like, and then wait and see if you roll by the area again. Especially if you got custom paint and the only one like it in a small town!! So think twice before you get custom paint on a bike when you wanna stunt down the main strip or run through lights…or like my boy…busted a wheelie right in front of the police station and went blocks!! It was tight…

Why are so many motorcycle riders keen to drive so fast? And it isn’t illegal to take a picture of some one’s face without their consent.

well MCN where talking about the cam subject as they usually do.at the min the SPECS average speed cam trap is front facing but the goverment are in development with new rear ones to sort out this problem.also did you know that if you are pulled over by the police and they see you have tampered with your plate eg. reflective plates, spray,or numbers changed you can get put away for 5yrs.hardly gonna happen but you could get a big @ss fine if the cop or judge takes a dislike to you.so just stick to cleaning all your bike apart from you plate so it cant be read, then if your pulled over say oh it must have come off that tractor that near wiped me out a few miles ago lol

Yes it’s true, but as motorcycles only represent 2% of vehicles the police are quite happy catching the other 98%. If you get caught on it a few times on a bike the police will simply wait for you one day to get you reg number.

You need a flip-up number plate, operated via a handle-bar lever, and as bikes have no front plate….its all good.

If you mess with your plate the actual offence is ‘not displaying a valid registration plate’ or somthing like that and its a £30 fixed penalty.

If you ditch the plate altogether its the same offence.

Oooops, sorry officer, it must of got pinched or somthing when I was in the ice cream shop/ helping the old lady over the road/ passing through barnsley……..
