Is there a device that will warn me if I am speeding?

February 10th, 2010 | by admin |

I am looking for something that will warn me if I am speeding. I have a tendency to go faster than I should. I may inadvertently be going 80 mph in a 65 mph zone or 30 in a 25 mph zone. A device that knows the speed limit for the area I am in and takes my speed into account, then warns me if I am exceeding it would be great!

I know there are radar and camera detectors, but I am not trying to avoid those so much as just not to speed in the first place. It can be built into a GPS device or be a seperate device.

Does anyone know of anything?

Just pay attention to what you are doing and you should be fine

My GPS unit has it built in.

They do make some (EDRs) Event Data Recorders but they start at around $200.00 and you can buy a GPS unit for less.

Why bother? If you are comfortable driving at a particular speed then who are the law to tell you to slow down?

I speed all the time as long as it is safe to do so.

I think my LG GPS has a feature like this. Not sure why I would use it.

If you know the chances of speeding are likely for you, try if at all possible, using your cruise control more often (if you have it). Of course, if you are like me, (leadfoot as I am) keep the eyes peeled for the 5-0 at all times while, as i see it, getting the heck out of the way of the others by getting as far from them as possible… Sure, going faster getting to your destination wont get you there more than a couple of minutes sooner but as I see it, id rather try to get there sooner than spending half my life behind the wheel behind some of these slow turds on the roads these days, so overparanoicly cautious about speeding and if other cars are too close. i mean if they are that paranoid, they dont need to be driving in the first place. So just do what you do and for those who flash you because they dont like it, dont worry because in a matter of seconds, they wont be able to see you anymore anyways
