Military applications have been the driving force behind US innovation since WWII. The US is the strong arm of rich men all over the planet, which is why those men fund trillions in US debt (i.e. buying stock in USA, inc — denominated in T-bills). The US military always has the best technology to ensure full spectrum dominance, enabling it to enforce the status quo of the global class hierarchy in which an elite of fewer than 1% own and control over 90% of the world’s resources and wealth.
