Keltec P3AT .380 w/ Crimson Trace LG-430 Laser
February 14th, 2010 | by admin |
Shooting my Keltec P-3AT .380 pistol. This is my current concealed carry weapon typically loaded with Hornaday .380 Auto Critical Defense or Remington .380 Auto Golden Saber Brass Jacketed Hollow Point (which can expand to .570″+… link below) featuring a Crimson Trace LG-430 Laser for deadly speed and accuracy in self defense situations.
The P-3AT is a locked-breech, double action only .380 ACP pistol (based on the P-32) designed and manufactured by Kel-Tec. The frame is made of polymer with an aluminum insert, and the slide and barrel are steel. It is the lightest production .380 ACP pistol in the world weighing only 8.3 oz (240 g) empty and is roughly the same size as many .22 and .25-caliber pistols.

@robadonkadonk …
@robadonkadonk Absolutely right I would rather know I can put all ten long rifles from my
P22 in center mass than just wing an attacker with my S&W .357.

That .40 won’t do …
That .40 won’t do you or your fellow Americans any good if it’s out in your car when some nutjob opens un in the Denny’s you’re eating in….trade the .40 for something you’ll actually CARRY on your PERSON…at all times….every day. Peace. Think about it, ok?

A .25 is better …
A .25 is better than a .45 if the .45 is left at home because you bought a handgun that was uncomfortable and stopped carrying it. I personally carry an XD45, but I’m buying my wife the kel tec .380 next week, and after seeing how well you placed those shots with the Crimson Trace I’ll be ordering that for sure. Thank you for carrying a handgun and guarding our fellow americans, friend. You are a good American and my hat is off to you, sir.

Typically the best …
Typically the best advice is to shoot the largest caliber that’s comfortable to you. It’s better to hit with a .22 than miss with a .44. When you’re comfortable with your gun, your accuracy and placement improves and that’s what really counts.

my dad has a kel …
my dad has a kel tec i like it alot…the major problem right now is the .380 ammo shortage which almost makes it impossible to get .380 hollow points which the kel tec was designed to shoot.

im kinda like as …
im kinda like as long as you aren’t looking 4 trouble yeah .380 is plenty, most people trying to rob u r gonna as soon as they hear a gun go off regardless….but if you are lookin 4 trouble or just have a gut feeling 5 guys are gonna mug u go with the .40.
i got a xd .40 subcompact….even so its still too big to tote around everywhere i go, but its never far usually in my car. really neat gun tho…and yes 40 cal hollow points straight up like a 45.

So, do I feel …
So, do I feel comfortable with the stopping power of a .380? Let me ask you this… if you were the bad guy, would you feel comfortable with a couple of red hot Hornaday .380 rounds penetrating your heart, liver, spleen or lungs? Probably not

I watched a video …
I watched a video last year with a polieman involved in several shootings. They asked him where he would place his first shot. He said it would be the hip area. This would stop the threat from moving toward you. If I remember right, the next rounds would be to center mass. Has anyone else seen this video?

I agree with the …
I agree with the argument that .40 caliber and higher is best for stopping power but some cannot carry a .40 or better for various reasons.
On the other hand, there is always shot placement, shoot to end the threat, reassess/reload, repeat as needed.
