Sat Nav – Which One?!?

February 15th, 2010 | by admin |

I’m looking for a Sat Nav system for my boyf that can be used on a motorbike and also in a car. He also needs the speed camera warnings (with laser detection). Im not very gadget minded, can anyone help??!!

Thanks a lot

Shar

For the sat nav system or GPS try the Tom Tom sytems best I’ve seen but be prepared to spend the $$$ the higher system with built in MP3 player runs under 600 bucks. For the radar detector try the Cobra brand ones that are in tri band mode. Call radio shack LOL.

Don’t know which country you are in, but assuming you are in United Kingdom, go to your local Halfords store, they have trained assistants who know exactly which one will be right for you.
Avoid the ones on ‘Special Offer’, that’s just the stores way of getting rid of old stock.
You will have loads of fun, don’t believe that they are useless, the bad press given by lorry drivers is because they didn’t follow the first instructions so took the next alternate route given – the navigation system doesn’t know how large the vehicle is! so obviously some people will have problems (usually mental ones!)
Not sure how it would work on a bike – mmmmm?
    Good luck!

Try the Garmin i3 streetpilot, it is very small, the size of a baseball.
it can have the speed camera location warnings downloaded on to it which is very handy.
These can now be bought for around £100 new.
have a look at this link: –

Try a road angel 6000 it tells you where all the fixed and mobile cameras are it is about 15cm x12cm easy to switch between vehicles and you can buy laser detectors as an add on

    go to http://www.dabs.com

Get a TomTom – there’s one desined for a motorbike as well as a car. if you are quick you can have it before christmas although today is their last day for placing orders.

I made the fatal mistake of buying the Dell PDA with Navigation system – great if you’ve got a convertible – getting a signal was a nightmare. I’ve now got a Tom Tom 910 – fantastic! country roads / cities no problems.

    Merry Christmas
