I mistaken a 60k zone as a 80, I was doing about 75-80, but cop pulled me over says I’m doing 94k but I wasnt?
February 25th, 2010 | by admin |In Sydney, Australia, I was riding my 1 clylinder 125cc motorbike at night at a wide road, it looked more like a highway and there wasn’t any speed limit signs, so I was unaware and maybe I was doing around 75-80km/hr , but than I saw flashing lights on my mirrors so I stopped, the officer came out of the car and the first thing he does is to showed me his laser gun and it reads 94, but I can be sure I wasn’t doing that much, he issued me a ticket with a $250AUD fine, I’m just thinking now should I take the matter to court?
I admit I was speeding, but I definally wasn’t going 94kms, and being on a 125cc one cylinder motorbike which is similar to a scooter, plus 80kg rider’s weight on it, even if I wanted to speed it would be difficult.
Can they prove that the reading on the laser gun belongs to my bike? after all it’s just a reading, it doesn’t have a picture of my bike on it, and plus these days everyone are saying those cameras and laser guns are very inaccurate.
If I choose the go to court option, what are my chances of winning?
you don’t stand a chance in court by your own admission you were really paying attention to the speed zone. unless you can get a engineer to without a doubt say that the motorbike you were on could not do 94k with you on it your goose is cooked
