July 11th, 2010 | by admin |

Exceeding weld speeds of 2000 millimeters per second (2 meters / second), high speed welding allows for very precise weld placement, with repeatable penetration and weld strengths. Process is done with a laser system

The width of the weld is about 100um or 0.004″.

The first sequence was taken with a standard camera, no slow motion. The second clip was also taken with a hand held point and shoot camera. The final sequence shows a comparison between a real time event of igniting a lighter and the weld pool going across the surface. This video was taken with the Phantom V9.1 high speed video camera.
