yeh the Pro 78 is …
yeh the Pro 78 is value for money as it performs very similar to the STi which is double the price. V1 cant go wrong as long as they are legal. I have got 400m warning with the Bel STi-R though to a rear facing setup, I still need to upload the videos.

I’ve only seen one …
I’ve only seen one camera since I’ve had the 78SE and it was backward facing. I guess that’s why the warning was only 50m. While it’s a very good radar I am giving it to my dad and getting the V1.

Haha ok, they …
Haha ok, they usually pack up by 9.30 though.
Ye well make sure its in KA MAX mode, ‘Filter’. You say you arent getting very good warning, is this on every different set-up you come across or was it just this one time. Rear setup or front facing setup?

Hi, Which model 78 SE or 2008 Model? What do you mean by, “how low can you get?”
Thanks

Thanks for …
Thanks for discussing detection of rear facing cameras. My 78 alerted me at about 40-50m the other night and I was wondering why it detected so late.
Speed cameras at night. How low can you get?

Thanks!

today the Pro-78 saved me twice in the city when they had a multanova set up just before the graham farmer freeway tunnel facing traffic going away from city direction. it was mounted in a very unnoticeable position but the whistler warned me about 400-500m in advance that to when I was turning to enter the freeway from an exit where the camera was on a slight bend from the position where i got the warning..excellent save

all this time i have forgotten about the reverse set up for bikes..and on the day this happened i also found that the camera didnt look normal..like i couldnt even see the flash pointed at my side..i though it was a new kind of camera or something because i have seen multanovas from sometime now this wasnt looking at me..so im pretty sure now it was a reverse set up mate. thanks mate

yeh you get about 1 …
yeh you get about 1/5 of multanova set-ups being rear positioned (the camera is set-up to target motocycles).
the camera in this video is rear facing, the whistler pro gives 50m and 10m warning.

i wasnt driving …
i wasnt driving uphill but i wasnt sure if it was a rear facing camera though..do they have rear facing set ups of multanovas in Perth? If thats the case then that could have been the reason..will have to check it out..thanks

Unless you were …
Unless you were driving uphill, as long as the RD was level, being high or low doesnt really effect distance in ka detection.
If this particular set-up was rear facing, ie. camera takes a photo of rear plates, the whistler will only give 30-10m warning, unless it hits a car in front of you it may pick up reflections of that vehicle and you can get 100m.

hey mate something …
hey mate something funny happened yesterday..i was driving to work and noticed a multanova set up far ahead and the detector was on highway mode with all bands on except X band, plus the filter was set to just filter and the detector didnt alert me till i was like 20m from the multanova when it finally alerted a Ka 34 alert..could it be because i have the detector on the center of my windscreen and not mounted high above like near the rear view mirror?or is it possibly a problem with the RD? tks

The higher filter …
The higher filter modes are designed to reduce false ka alerts from other RD’s such as cobras (they are shit). With the low powered multanova in perth I would keep it to ‘filter’ mode. Although probably no difference, better safe than sorry.

i held the city …
i held the city button and powered it on and it came up “Whistler PRO 78SE Rev C+” I have turned off POP now. Also i set the Filter to filter 2 level. Let me know if i should leave that at just filter instead. Also the laser is at NORM now do I have to change that? Thanks for the advice mate.

cops dont use pop …
cops dont use pop in wa, if you need to test the year model on you 78: hold down city mode and then plug it in, and should start up differently and say REV B or REV C. If it is rev c turn off pop, and you may see a increase in detection to multanovas by about 20%. POP – often falses around service stations and radios

i do live in WA. I have turned off SWS but kept K and POP still turned on as I found that the Pro 78 is very quiet on most roads except for just the perth city. Where i decided just to use city mode which makes it very discreet. Once i got a POP alert and then when i looked around a patrol car is approachin me from the side intersection so it worked i guess.but like i asked do u think if i turn off K will there be no chance of detecting a cop car even with POP on? so far Pro 78 is working good

do you live in wa? …
do you live in wa? if you do, I would reccomend turning s-w-s and ‘pop’ off to enable Rev C, if the model is a 2008.
K band, if doing a lot of city driving probably wont hurt to turn it off, but you generally dont speed in city so made just turn off the RD? I have seen highway patrol in sub-urban streets, so I dont think you should turn it off in general.

hey do you keep the …
hey do you keep the K band turned off on Pro 78? i find that there is an occasional false alert just from K bands when i run it in the city..i have already turned off X band..and also by turning off K band and still leaving POP mode on do I still have chances of getting warned about cop car radars targeting my speed? cheers
