1/16 E-Revo VXL Bashing and Speed Run using Garmin GPS

March 13th, 2010 | by admin |

This is yet another video of me doing some more speed testing. I was using an iPhone app in my last video and I don’t think it was accurate so I am using a Garmin GPS this time. I think the numbers are right this time. All was done using the supplied 23T “speed” pinion, 6 cell NiMH and 2s lipos. Got some water/mud bashing and mild rock crawling just to show what all this little thing can do!

I also have an E Revo VXL with 2 x 3s 1550mah batteries hooked up in Parallel for longer run times. Are you running yours in parallel or in series?

I once ran mine with a 34t pinion but can’t remember if I was using a 40t or 45t spur. All I can say is it popped wheelies even with that gearing. I wasn’t able to hit full throttle because the tires vibrated so much that I was afraid it would break something. On paper that should push it to 83mph. I wouldn’t try it with the stock talons though.

i just thought i would warn you not to use dual 6 cells with the stock 29t pinion gear because the power of the twin batteries will cause the motor to exceed the maximum rpm of the and it will eventualy burn it out pushing it to the limit. just a suggestion

Yes I have and I was really fast! I wouldn’t recommend it though because of motor temps. If you motor dies then it’s on you.

Have you tried running the dual 6 cells with the stock 29T pinion? Did it go faster or slower than the 23T? I just one of these for Christmas so I’m just wondering if it’s worth the burden of switching the pinions…

Yeah but when I run …
Yeah but when I run 4s on the 29T pinion I can hit 60mph and I don’t hit the rev limiter. So that tells ya you can push it faster but have a chance of burning up something. Plus the little guy won’t even keep the front end down.

    I have a revo and …
I have a revo and the same 2s venom lipo batteries and when I run them in series mine also sounds like it is hitting a rev limiter. Its because there is too much current for the ESC to handle. It would definitly go a lot faster if it did not do that. To me running three cell batteries seems to do better because you can run it in lipo mode which you cannot do on 4 cells and there is never to much current. 3 cell lipos seem to have less acceleration but run faster than 4s and overheat less
