Best GPS navigation system to program speed camera alerts?

September 4th, 2010 | by admin |

All our local speed camera sites are published. What is the best navigation system to program these into and set an audible alert? Is the process difficult?

The TomTom will be best for that because not only do they have a subscription service to a database of stationary speed and red light cameras but they allow TomTom users to enter in updates so new locations won’t have to wait till the next database release.

If other TomTom users sees a new speed camera and reports it on their TomTom then you’ll get an alert on it.

With the other navigation systems, you can’t enter anything in, not even for your own use. You’ll have to wait till they send someone around to map out the locations of the speed cameras and they don’t do that very often.

If you buy a Garmin, you can add that feaure for around $30/year. The best part is that the location of speed cameras/red light cameras are automatically displayed on your map (you don’t have to program them in).
