Does the Magellan 1424 GPS unit measure speed?

I saw nothing in the specs that indicated that it does. It does give an average speed. That said, I saw nothing on the specs for my Garmin Nuvi 650 that it displays speed, but I know it does. At least when the map is free running, not in the Navigation mode. Doubt this helps any.

you can normally measure speed on any gps that includes this feature. if you want to change the compass, time, or see your speed. do this
1. press the compass on the left hand side of the screen
2. press the speed limit on the right hand side of the screen
3. press the back arrow and thats it, you should see the speed above the compass.
keep in mind i am using a newelectronx gps and the features and steps may or may not be similar, but this should get you going. i would recommend that you look at the user manual included with your gps.
