GPS speed limit warning
February 26th, 2010 | by admin |
What if GPS units in cars had an optional warning that could alert you if you are driving faster than the posted speed limit? While there are GPS models that warn of speed traps or speed cameras, nobody offers full time warnings. This video shows what that could look like. The idea is more thoroughly explored at www.fewercrashes.org
This video is missing the verbal audio prompt at the end, and will be replaced in several days.

My Mio DigiWalker …
My Mio DigiWalker P550 has that feature, and it’s several years old.
It knows the speed limit for individual roads, and it’s possible to set how much you’d need to speed to get a warning. It’s possible to set a different warning margin for in-town, or outside-town.
I thought all car GPS had that feature.
