Video of GPS speeed readout aboard TGV Duplex and TGV-R tri-current setsaccelerating northbound along the TGV Mediteranee line from Aix-En-Provence TGV station on a Marseille to Lille (and Brussells) service.
Equipment used to measure speed was a Qstarz Q-1000P Datalogger. HP Ipaq 4700 running Memory Map software.
TGV Duplex unit 704 was leading at the front of the train with TGV-R set 4511 on the rear.
The start is mainly level track until around 1min 55 seconds into the run, then downhill until 3 min 44 secs, followed by a long and steep uphill climb until around 5 min 30 secs in the video. This explains the brief interlude in acceleration along the way. The train eventually reached 190mph in around 9.5 mins with a peak speed recorded of 199.2mph. (320km/h)
